The Granville Hotel was purchased by locals Liam and Ann Cusack in 1979 and reopened on the 17th May 1980. They had been looking at hotels in Munster and saw the potential in this historic building. The hotel had become rundown, with a bar downstairs, a small dining room on the first floor and flats occupying the rest of the building.

Full restoration works were undertaken, including upgrading the bar, creating 50 ensuite bedrooms and turning a portion of Hearne's store into the Taptestry function room and Bianconi Restaurant, returning the hotel to its former grandeur and combining modern comfort with olde worlde charm and elegance.

Over the ensuing years Liam and Ann acquired adjoining buildings Bells, Tylers and Chapmans and added these into the fabric of the hotel. In 1998 they took on one of their more ambitious projects, building an additional 30 rooms onto the hotel, giving a total of 103 rooms. Today the Cusack family first, second and third generations continue to uphold the Granville traditions of comfort, service and hospitality. Supported by an excellent team of loyal staff, the hotel’s ethos is to ensure a warm and caring welcome to local and international guests and patrons.
